The illegal distribution of the Ity and Fancy Cat: Best of Season 2 DVDs in Canada is causing a big loss for distributors Ellis International.
When our sources spoke to Owen 'Blakka' Ellis of Ellis International, producer of the Ity and Fancy Cat show yesterday, he said that the business was suffering a "devastating" loss from the illegal distribution of the show's DVDs.
According to Ellis, based on the overwhelming popularity of the TV show, the company invested heavily in the DVD project.
The boot-legged DVDs are being sold for $5 Canadian compared to the actual price of the DVD which is set at $15 Canadian. He said, "we found out about it through a promoter who wants to bring the duo to Canada and bought a copy. It looked suspicious so he contacted me and gave me the bootleg copy, I`m holding it as evidence."
formal report
Upon seeing the bootlegged-DVD, Ellis contacted the Malton police in Ontario Canada, where the DVDs are being sold. He then called the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) where a formal report was made to the fraud section. The DVD is a 100 minute-long project containing clips from season two of the popular show.
In a previous interview with our sources, Ity claimed that demands for a DVD to be made was strong. He said, "people already a call the office daily, asking when are the DVDs going to be ready. Right now, Courts has already said they can distribute it and Courts has a store in every parish."
